A polypin of beer sometimes termed a ‘bag in box’ is a beer container consisting of a plastic bag in a rigid cardboard box, and a dispensing tap. Lasts approx 5-7 days from opening if kept in a cool environment.

The polypins are prepared without sediment, termed “bright” or “re-racked”. The beer does not require a period of settling when delivered and can be drunk straight away, however we do recommend it be stored in cellar temperature (13c or 56F). Hobsons polypins are ideal for parties and functions, we advise you order polypins as close to when you plan to drink the beer as it’s prepared fresh to order.

We sell polypins in two sizes: 20 Litres = approx 36 pints 10 Litres = approx 18 pints. Please note we can only offer 20 Litres as collection from the Brewery.

We would recommend ordering your polypin before midnight on Wednesday, we would then dispatch Thursday for Friday delivery. If you want to order in advance, you can do this by leaving your required delivery date in the Order Notes at checkout.

Full instructions on how to correctly dispense from your polypin can be found on the box. The beer does not require a period of settling when delivered and can be drunk straight away, however we do recommend it be stored somewhere cool.

Our polypins last up to 5 days unopened. Once opened, polypins last up to 7 days kept in ideal conditions but we recommend drinking the beer in 2-3 days once opened to enjoy it at its best.

All Hobsons bottled beers (apart from Twisted Spire which is carbonated), are bottle conditioned. This means a small amount of sediment is left in the bottle, allowing the beer to generate a small amount of fizz, creating tip-top condition in the glass and being as close a resemblance to cask beer as possible. Yeast sediment settles at the bottom of the bottle if stored & poured correctly (see bottle label for storage guidance), resulting in crystal clear beer. If you do notice any ‘bits’ in your beer, this will simply be disturbed sediment which is perfectly safe to drink.

Hobsons Bottle conditioned beers have a best before date stamped on the side of the bottle, this date is 12 – 18 months from the date of bottling. Guidance notes on how to store Hobsons bottles correctly are displayed on the bottle.
